Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has claimed recent speculation linking Max Verstappen to Mercedes has "annoyed" the four-time world champion.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has addressed the growing speculation linking Max Verstappen to a future seat at Mercedes, stating that the rumors have become an "annoyance" for the four-time world champion during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend. This comes after Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff confirmed his long-term interest in the driver.

The situation gained traction at the Red Bull Ring after Mercedes driver George Russell indicated his own contract renewal discussions were being impacted by the team's pursuit of Verstappen. While Wolff acknowledged his team's interest on Friday, he later clarified the prospect was "long-term" and carried a "very low probability," given Verstappen's current contract with Red Bull extends until 2028.

Speaking to Sky Sports following a challenging qualifying session in Austria, Horner was quick to dismiss the talk. "It's a lot of noise," he said. "I think Max gets quite annoyed by it. We're very clear with the contract that we have with Max until 2028. Anything is entirely speculative that is being said. We tend not to pay too much attention to it."
