Sources confirm that Chelsea has reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of winger Jamie Gittens. The deal is reportedly valued at up to €65 million ($76.1 million).
The breakthrough follows recent face-to-face negotiations held in the United States, where both clubs are currently participating in the Club World Cup. Discussions between the Premier League club and the German side have advanced significantly over the past few days.
The 20-year-old winger has consented to personal terms on a seven-year contract and is scheduled to complete a medical examination within the next 48 hours.
Despite FIFA regulations permitting teams to add up to two new players to their Club World Cup squads, Gittens will be ineligible to feature for Chelsea in the tournament. He is cup-tied, having already played for Dortmund as a substitute against Fluminense during the group stage.
