RCB release 6-point manifesto for 'meaningful action' after Bengaluru stampede saga

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru have announced a six-point manifesto in the aftermath of the Bengaluru stampede that occurred in June.
RCB Cares, the team’s social initiative wing, has outlined six key actions the franchise will take to provide meaningful support following the tragedy.

The manifesto comes just days after RCB pledged financial aid of Rs 25 lakh to each of the families affected by the incident. The franchise has now committed to honouring the memories of the fans who lost their lives and carrying out impactful, on-ground initiatives in their name.

1. Provide support that goes beyond financial aid

Ensure fast, transparent, and human support to fans and families impacted.

2. Build safe and inclusive environments

Work closely with stadium authorities, sporting bodies, and league partners to design better crowd management protocols.

3. Empower communities with real opportunities

Social development programs that have kicked off in rural Karnataka, starting with the Siddi community.

4. Invest in independent research and crowd safety

Create a fan-safety audit framework and train our on-ground partners annually on crowd management and emergency response.

5. Elevate fan memory into something permanent

A dedicated space in Bengluru to honour the names, stories and spirit of RCB's most passionate fans. A living tribute.

6. Build futures through sport

Belief in this team should not just live in the stands. Create in-stadia jobs, nurture local talent, and support the next generation of professionals in sport.

When Celebrations Turned Into Stampede

What began as a city-wide celebration for Royal Challengers Bengaluru's historic Indian Premier League title win turned tragic on Wednesday, June 4, after a stampede near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium left 11 people dead and over 40 injured.

RCB had announced celebrations with fans in Bengaluru on Wednesday, a day after they defeated Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025 final to end the 18-year-wait for silverware.

The local authorities had denied permission for an open-top bus parade that was scheduled to run from the Vidhana Soudha to the Bengaluru stadium-a distance of just one kilometre. However, over two lakh fans thronged the area to catch a glimpse of the RCB team, returning home with the trophy after their 18-year-long wait.

While entry to the stadium was permitted only through passes, fans without access gathered in massive numbers around the premises. According to the state government, a temporary slab placed over a drain near the stadium premises collapsed under the weight of those standing on it. The collapse reportedly caused panic, leading to a stampede.
