The DP World International League T20 (ILT20) returns this December with its fourth edition, and its timing could not be more significant. With the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup scheduled for February-March in India and Sri Lanka, the Gulf-based tournament provides an ideal platform for both international stars and UAE cricketers to sharpen their skills. The ILT20 requires each of its six franchises to field a minimum of four UAE players in their squads. While the UAE have yet to secure qualification for next year’s World Cup, the regulation ensures valuable exposure for domestic talent alongside established names.

Several of those internationals are also likely to be part of their national squads when the global event kicks off. Season 4 will begin on December 2 at the Dubai International Stadium with a rematch of last season’s final, as defending champions Dubai Capitals meet Desert Vipers. The Capitals had edged that contest in dramatic fashion, winning with four balls to spare to claim their maiden title.

The 34-match season will be spread across three venues — 15 games at the Dubai International Stadium, 11 at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium, and eight at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The playoffs start December 30, with the final set for January 4 in Dubai. Meanwhile, the bigger picture revolves around the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will once again feature 20 teams and 55 matches.
Hosts India and Sri Lanka are joined by 13 others already confirmed, including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, USA, Pakistan, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Netherlands and Italy. Five more spots will be decided through regional finals later this year in Africa and Asia/East Asia-Pacific.

Who do you think will win the ILT20 Season 4?
As witnessed in the USA and West Indies in 2024, the expanded format provides ample opportunity for emerging nations. For UAE players, the ILT20 is a direct gateway into that competitive environment, while for global stars, it is a final tune-up in familiar conditions. Season 4 promises high stakes on two fronts, with the first being silverware in January, and preparation for cricket’s next global showpiece just weeks later.
